Puddles – Poetry/Prose #napowrimo

Puddles

PUDDLES
BY SM CADMAN
Poetry/Prose

Puddles
Often appear to reflect what is above them-
Still with muddied specks of dirt
clinging to the atoms of
Oxygen and Hydrogen molecules
elements combining in a murky stew.

The water flushing out the earthworms
surrounding the slickened edges
they announce themselves as a delightful
course of sustenance, for the crows
descending from the ashy Heavens above-

The brownish pool dimly reflecting their,
ebony plumage and opaque eyes
they survey the muck and mire,
pecking away at the pieces of tubular segments-
The remains of what Earth has produced.
